SikaCeram®-205 Super TZ

High performance cementitious polymer-modified Tile Adhesive

SikaCeram®-205 Super TZ is a high performance flexible cementitious adhesive, containing high performance cements, selected silica/ quartz minerals and specific additives, supplied ready to use with the addition of water. It can be used for bonding ceramic tiles internally and externally, for vertical and horizontal applications. SikaCeram®-205 Super TZ is suitable for all kinds of tiles in hot and tropical climatic conditions. EN 12004 class C2TE.

Usage

Shelf life

12 months minimum from date of production if stored properly in original unopened, sealed and undamaged packaging.

Storage conditions

Store in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging in dry conditions. Protect from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.

Values determined at laboratory conditions: 25 °C ± 2 °C. Higher temperatures will reduce the indicated waiting time, lower temperatures increase them.

Adjustability time

Once the tiles are set into the mortar, they can be adjusted for up to approximately 30 minutes (at +25°C)
Consumption

Consumption

The consumption depends on the surface profile and roughness of the substrate and the placing technique (simple placing or back back-“buttering”). One 25 kg bag will cover approximately 5 – 7 m2
Application steps

MIXING

Mix 25 kg bag with the necessary above mentioned amount of water, using an electric blender with a suitable mixing spiral at low speed in a clean bucket and up to obtain a smooth paste free of lumps. Use a blender at 500 rpm maximum; do not mix at faster rate because of mechanical strength decay of the cured product. After blending, leave the product to stand and 'mature' for 5 minutes in the mixing container
and then briefly stir the mix prior to application. The obtained mix results very creamy, easily spreadable and thixotropic.

APPLICATION

  • Apply SikaCeram®-205 Super TZ at 1.5 - 5 mm thickness directly to the concrete substrate, using a notched trowel and spread the mortar evenly over the area to be tiled.
  • Cover only an area that can be tiled within 15 - 30 minutes.
  • Apply with 3mm “V”-notched trowels for small tiles(5*5cm). 6mm “V”-notched trowels for normal tiles(Less than 200*200).
  • Apply with 9mm square notched trowel for bigger tiles.
  • And for tile larger than 300*300 or highest performance requirements, back-buttering technique for bedding should be used.
  • Press tiles firmly into the mortar with a twisting action to ensure optimum adhesion.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Clean all equipment and tools with water immediately after use. Dry hardened material can be removed mechanically.
